Ceramic Implants: Two-day training course Nov. 11-12

Curious about the use of ceramic implants, but not sure where to start? Drs. Sammy Noumbissi and Chris Phelps will train doctors on what they need to know in this two-day hands-on training with patients at the Hilton Garden Inn – Waverly in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Noumbissi is the founder and president of the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology, an independent association focused on metal-free and ceramic implantology. Phelps is an entrepreneur, general dentist and an Amazon best-selling author who practices in Charlotte. (See detailed bios below.)

The course — limited to the first 10 doctors who register — provides 14 continuing education (CE) credits and will be held Nov. 11 and 12. The registration fee is $4,120. Participants can pay an additional fee to place an additional implant. Attendees may also audit the course — no implant placement — for $2,065.

Dental professionals who previously attended similar courses said Noumbissi and Phelps answered all their questions about the use of titanium versus zirconia implants, provided one-on-one personalized attention and sent them home with helpful tips about their general dentistry practice.

Day One of the training includes an overview of the differences between ceramic and titanium implants, review of data on ceramic implant integration success rates and methods of objectively evaluating osseointegration, and a look at case selection criteria, including ideal tissue and bone volumes needed for success. Phelps and Noumbissi will also discuss prevention and management of complications, a review of surgical protocols and how they differ from titanium implants. The afternoon session on Day One will also include work using models and placement of a dummy ceramic implant.

Day Two will feature a live demo surgery by Drs. Phelps and Noumbissi. Attendees will work with a patient to place a ceramic implant and will assist another participant in their surgery. At the end of the day, doctors will review and discuss all cases from the day.

The goal is for all participants to assist or observe up to four ceramic implant surgeries and to place one implant on a patient.
