Hands-on, workshops and demos in AIO International Congress 2022: Focus on the Gender Shift in Dentistry

The International Congress of the Italian Dental Association, scheduled this year from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 June in Chia in Sardinia, offers a substantial series of Workshops, Hands-on, and Demos.


Five courses on Thursday, six, including the Laser Certification by Walid Altayeb, will be held in Spartivento 3. 

In Chia 3, starting at the same time,  the Hands-on Surgery by Mauro Libertucci (Rome), an all-day course, is open to 40 participants. The course illustrates the techniques for using the Tooth Transformer and the Magnetic Mallet using microscopes and animal preparations.

In Spartivento 1, starting at the same time, Style Italiano session with Giuseppe Chiodera and Anna Salat from 9 to 15 will illustrate the modification of diastemas and shapes. 

In the same room, a Workshop on Veneers by SIDOC (Italian Society of Restorative Dentistry)  with Camillo D'arcangelo and Hande Sar Sancakli will follow: the steps for making no-prep veneers and veneers with minimally invasive preparations will be described and the indications for the correct use of different materials will be shown.

In Chia 1, at the end of the Endodontic session, we will have the Hands-on part with Denise Pontoriero and Filippo Cardinali, organized by SIE (Italian Society of Endodontic), on the shaping and obturation of the root canal.

Finally, in Chia 2, the Digital Dentistry Society Congress will end with a demo on Digital Work Flow by Tommaso Porra 'and Milos Miladinov

The Friday morning Photography and Imaging session in Spartivento 2 from 9 to 13 with the Lives on Stage by Louis Hardan and Milos Miladinov also becomes very practical.

On the afternoon of Friday 10 June, another part for hands-on courses, parallel to or after the Friday plenary session ending at 16.30, allows everyone to  participate partially or totally in one or more courses (free of charge for congress participants!)

There are five of them: one for surgery, three for digital workflow, and one for conscious sedation. 

The "GBR vertical and horizontal technical principles" course will be held in Sala Chia 3 from 3 to 7 pm. Passivation of the flaps as the key to success ". held by Silvio Meloni, Milena Pisano. This hands-on course will use pig jaws together with didactic videos to explain step by step the surgical and flap passivation technique to achieve predictable results in the regeneration of severely resorbed ridges

In parallel, from 3 to 5 pm, in Sala Spartivento 1,  the Workshop on "4d dentistry and completely digital workflow with Modjaw held by Federico Manes" will open: it is a device that allows you to monitor and record the movement of the jaw in real-time in the dentist's chair. 

Following in the same room (Sala Spartivento 1), from 5 to 7 pm, the workshop "Digital workflows using the xSNAP system" will explore fully digital restorative protocols for veneers, single and multiple implants as well as for the restoration of natural dentition.  Oliver Hill, Dimitar Filtchev, Manuel Fricke are the speakers in this workshop. 

Giuseppe Marano will hold the practical course on conscious sedation with nitrous oxide in Sala Spartivento 2 (3 - 7 pm).

Participants will be taught how to control an inhalation sedation machine and the gas evacuation system, how to connect the inhalation system and select the appropriate nasal mask, how to adjust the sedation machine as needed, how to titrate the nitrous oxide concentration and recognize an adequate level of sedation and how to assess suitability for discharge and reflect on the quality of sedation.

Finally, in Sala Spartivento 3, from 15:00 to 19:00, another practical course on digital workflows was with SDI Matrix and its consultant Leonard Emdin. The Individual digital workflow in a functional diagnosis of the patient will be explored fully during the afternoon practice with all participants.

Official Language

The official language of the congress is English. Simultaneous translation into English will be provided for those lectures, not in English.
