Providers talk through exams naturally while Overjet Voice handles hard tissue findings, perio measurements, and clinical notes directly in the PMS.
Overjet recently announced major enhancements to Overjet Voice: hands-free hard tissue charting and natural voice perio charting. Together, these updates allow providers to conduct an entire exam using natural speech, while Overjet Voice automatically captures periodontal measurements, restorative findings, billing codes, and clinical notes directly into the practice’s PMS.
“Every dentist wants two things: more time focused on the patient, and a chart they can trust when that patient leaves the chair,” said Wardah Inam, founder and CEO of Overjet. “The real unlock with Overjet Voice has always been that it listens in natural language, however a clinician actually talks, instead of forcing them to learn rigid commands. We already do that for clinical notes and perio. Now we’re doing it for restorative findings and planned treatment too, so the provider never has to change how they work; the chart just keeps up.”
Hard tissue charting brings the same hands-free approach to restorative exams that Overjet Voice already offers for perio charting and clinical notes. Restorative charting has always been a manual process; providers click through a chart or type notes mid-exam, or reconstruct it from memory afterward. Now Voice listens throughout the visit, catching findings mentioned even in passing, and turns what a provider says — decay, existing restorations, missing teeth, planned treatment — into structured odontogram entries the provider reviews on one screen and submits to the PMS with a single click. Practices running Overjet’s Vision AI get a further benefit: when Vision flags a finding on an X-ray, the provider simply confirms it out loud, and it’s charted the same way. Hard tissue charting is live today on CareStack, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Dentrix Core, Dentrix Ascend, and Denticon, with more systems to come, included in an existing Voice subscription at no added cost.
“With Overjet, I can focus on what matters most, my patients. I can talk through the exam naturally, listen to their concerns, and give them the attention they deserve while their chart is documented accurately in real time. It means less time looking at a computer screen and more time having a conversation with the patient. Most importantly, it gives me confidence that we’re capturing the full picture of their oral health, so we can make informed decisions together and help them feel confident about their care,” said Dr. Nasir Sadeghi, DDS, Owner, Paladin Dental.
The second update, natural perio charting, removes the rigid, scripted format other AI charting solutions require for periodontal exams. Providers used to call out measurements in a specific sequence using limited commands; anything phrased differently risked being missed. Drawing on insights from hundreds of thousands of periodontal exams and trained across more than 50 million training-token exposures, Overjet Voice now uses an in-house real-time large language model that understands natural phrasing with over 98% accuracy. A hygienist or dentist can talk through a perio exam in their own words and order, the way they always have, and Voice still charts it correctly.
“Natural Voice Perio works great with the newer update. I can even talk to patients while I’m charting now, and it doesn’t mess anything up. It saves me time and makes the whole process so much easier,” said Carly Burke, CRDH, Northwood Dental.
Hard tissue charting and natural perio charting are available now to every practice on an Overjet Voice subscription, no new hardware, no new workflow to learn. To see it in action, visit overjet.com .
