University of Pittsburgh Awarded Richard King Mellon Foundation Grant for Dental Antibiotic Stewardship

The University of Pittsburgh has received a grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to support the project “Dental Antibiotic Stewardship: Doctors' Needs,” led by Deborah Polk, AB, PhD, visiting associate professor in the Pitt Dental Medicine Department of Dental Public Health.

The Pitt Dental Medicine team, together with UPMC collaborators, aims to improve antibiotic stewardship in dental care. The project will explore practitioners’ adherence to clinical practice guidelines regarding prescribing prophylactic antibiotics and develop effective implementation strategies to increase responsible use of antibiotics.
