Glidewell wins FDA nod for two headache-prevention devices

Dental lab giant, Glidewell, has released two new dental devices for tension and migraine headaches. The NTI-tss Plus® and the NTI OmniSplint® received FDA clearance to help avoid the two types of headaches based on reduction in teeth clenching. 

The NTI-tss Plus device reduced clenching forces and keeps teeth from potential wear or damage. The device is worn on upper or lower anterior teeth, and reduces clenching with the posterior teeth. NTI OmniSplint uses a full arch to reduce the degree of bruxing and clenching, and thereby reduce tension or migraine headaches. The devices are priced at $120 and $140, respectively.

The drug-free devices may be helpful for patients unable to use migraine or headache medicines.
