With the LinkIt digital workflow, dental practices using the Dentrix platform can streamline and automate the entire process of providing custom nightguards, from initial patient scan to final delivery.
Henry Schein, Inc. and Henry Schein One recently announced that custom nightguards are now available through the LinkIt™ digital workflow. The companies first showcased this solution at the Henry Schein FastPass lounge at DS World in Las Vegas in late September. Attendees were able to register for a demonstration and after being scanned with Dentsply Sirona’s Primescan 2, a custom nightguard was designed, 3D printed, and then shipped to them a few days later.
The launch of nightguards on the LinkIt platform, deeply integrated with Dentrix, demonstrates the workflow’s capability to bridge the gap between practice management and digital production. It is designed to create a single, cohesive workflow by eliminating the need for multiple software platforms, repetitive data entry, and the uploading and downloading of files. LinkIt provides a seamless connection between Dentrix, third-party imaging, and design and production, including milling and 3D printing. This enables dental professionals to focus on patient care, while technology automates complex logistical steps.
“The introduction of this comprehensive workflow for nightguards through LinkIt is a significant leap forward in our mission to simplify digital dentistry for our customers,” Mackenzie Richter, vice president, global commercial digital workflow solutions, Henry Schein, stated in a press release.“We are providing a single, intuitive workflow that not only enhances the patient experience but also allows practices to save time, reduce errors, and improve their bottom line. This is the first of many solutions we plan to enable with our LinkIt platform.”
The new workflow, built on LinkIt’s open architecture, transforms the traditional nightguard process, eliminating manual steps and connecting disparate systems. This allows dental practices to leverage existing technology investments while ensuring a smooth, integrated experience from patient to final product. The process is comprised of 3 key steps:
Choose An Intraoral Scanner: The open architecture connects to most intraoral scanners, including devices from Planmeca, Dentsply Sirona, or Medit, with more to come, all available through Henry Schein Dental. This flexibility allows practices to use their preferred equipment.
Supercharged Imaging: Dentrix automatically links to the preferred intraoral scanner software. Once the patient’s teeth are scanned, the images are automatically captured, viewed, and auto-synced back to the patient’s chart within Dentrix.
Order with Ease: The entire ordering process is managed within Dentrix. Dental teams send the patient’s virtual model and the order is automatically uploaded to nightguard.com, where it can be tracked from submission to delivery. The scan-and-send solution enables the nightguard to return to the office in a few days with easy tracking in Dentrix.
“For too long, practices have had to make a choice between innovative technology and integration,” added Dr. Ryan Hungate, chief clinical and strategy officer, Henry Schein One. “We’re here to change that. LinkIt isn’t just an open architecture workflow; it’s another step in our commitment to removing friction from the dental practice, from imaging to billing. The nightguard solution provides a truly seamless process built on a foundation of security. This is just the beginning of how we’ll continue to build out this platform, providing practices with the tools they need to succeed on their own terms.”
