Invisalign Smile Architect Launches Enhanced Software for Side-by-Side Treatment Plan Comparisons

Align Technology announced the release of the latest innovation in its Invisalign Smile Architect software. The new release includes multiple treatment plans, allowing doctors to visually compare and modify orthodontic-only and ortho-restorative treatment plans side by side. These plans are integrated into ClinCheck treatment planning software, enabling doctors to compare, review, and select the best treatment options for each patient.

During an office visit, a doctor can use their iTero scanner to visually demonstrate ortho-only and ortho-restorative treatment simulations. Alternatively, they can submit a patient’s records to use the features of Invisalign Smile Architect to develop a personalized ClinCheck treatment plan, whether ortho-only or ortho-restorative.

Ortho-restorative treatment presents a growing opportunity for dental practitioners, combining the benefits of the Invisalign System with restorative care. This approach offers patients a variety of treatment options, using a tooth mass analysis tool to depict minimal tooth reduction through the Invisalign Smile Architect ortho-restorative software.

“Invisalign Smile Architect with multiple treatment plans was developed to help doctors facilitate patient education by providing treatment planning options that support more informed treatment decisions and ultimately enhance practice growth,” said Sreelakshmi Kolli, Align Technology’s chief product and digital officer. “The advanced visual comparison tools within Invisalign Smile Architect software with multiple treatment plans help general dentists communicate options that may combine orthodontic and restorative procedures, supporting doctors, patients, and their treatment goals.”

The new software integrates with the Align Digital Platform, a unique combination of software, systems, and services designed to provide a seamless experience and workflow that connects all users—doctors, labs, patients, and consumers. This single ecosystem offers combined visual orthodontic and restorative treatment planning, including facial line analysis, tooth mass evaluation, and in-face visualizations. It also introduces new features like Flex Rx, Invisalign Personalized Plan (IPP), ClinCheck Smile Video, and ClinCheck Live Update.

“I’ve waited my entire career for a product like Invisalign Smile Architect! It makes transforming traditional aesthetic restorative cases into minimally invasive ortho-restorative plans easy by visualizing the best aesthetic outcome through optimal tooth positioning,” said Dr. Michael DiTolla, a cosmetic dentist based in Lodi, California, who participated in the limited market release. “The new multiple treatment plans feature has been invaluable in helping patients understand the difference between ortho-only and ortho-restorative outcomes, leading to better case acceptance and compliance throughout treatment. I now won’t start any anterior restorative case without first considering if we can achieve a more conservative approach by moving the teeth. Invisalign Smile Architect with multiple treatment plans is a major leap forward in restorative dentistry!”

Dr. Karla Soto, a GP dentist and Align Faculty member with a practice in Boca Raton, Florida, added, “This latest release of Invisalign Smile Architect software has enhanced my ability to engage patients by allowing them to visualize potential treatment outcomes, including aesthetics. This elevates the patient experience and has led to higher Invisalign case acceptance at my practice.”

Invisalign Smile Architect software with multiple treatment plans is expected to be available to Invisalign-trained doctors in Q4 2024.
