Michigan dentist places own tooth robotically

Katherine E. Pfaff

A dentist in Plymouth, Michigan, who has attained expertise in robotic dentistry has placed his own dental implant robotically. Dr. Bruce Smolder, who brings more than three decades of experience, recently placed a dental in his own mouth with the robotic-assisted dental implant technology, Yomi.

Dr. Smoler’s precatice, Smoler Smiles, has achieved a designation as a “Diamond Center of Excellence” by Neocis, provider of the Yomi system. The designation reflects Dr. Smoler and his team’s skill with the dental implant system.

The Yomi system is designed to provide more precise and more efficient care for placing dental implants compared to a human alone completing the procedure. Using the dental implant system, Dr. Smoler completed his own implant placement, stating, “If it's good enough for me, then it's good enough for my patients.”

"At Smoler Smiles, we believe no one should have to suffer from the problems of missing teeth, poor fitting dentures and partials. Our goal is to help all suffering patients enjoy transformational dentistry, allowing them to live life to the fullest and enjoy the simplest of pleasures in everyday living," said Dr. Smoler.
