Dove launches device to lessen airborne droplet movement

Katherine E. Pfaff

Maker of disposable devices to mitigate oral evacuation, Dove Dental Products, has released its new product to reduce the movement of aerosols during care involving dental instruments. Dive’s Aero single use device is a hybrid that offers protection from both ejector and backflow.

The device is expected to reduce risk presented by COVID-19 and other respiratory and/or infectious diseases by working on three pathways. These include managing aerosol, backflow, and evacuation.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the new Dove Aero HVE Backflow Prevention Valve,” said Jim Langeloh, vice president of sales at Dove. “It's the first valve of its kind to offer external aerosol collection, backflow protection, and HVE power while providing patients with the comfort of using a saliva ejector.”

Dove uses suction of a high-volume ejector and a secured saliva ejector to increase accessibility and comfort of the patient. The patented device also includes an external aerosol chamber that covers 360 degrees to, if used with internal evacuation, eliminate as much as 95% of the particles which are airborne.

The device is expected to be easily integrated into existing oral healthcare practices. "It's the valve that does not compromise comfort, performance, or dental office space," Langeloh said.
