Insurance claim platform has kicked off a DSO pilot program

Katherine E. Pfaff

Dental insurance claim platform, Zentist, which helps to automate claim processing, has entered into a program to pilot collaboration with DSOs. The financial pre-funding program is aimed at using machine learning to achieve immediate payments for dental claims.

The program is useful for providers with several locations and is purported to reduce risk of lack of insurance reimbursement, to provide available cash to DSOs, and allow for reinvestment into individual DSOs. The overall industry for DSO insurance claims is valued at $156 billion.

For participating companies, Zentist offers its revenue cycle management (RCM) platform which reliably can forecast payments from dentist insurers and that cashflow is provided to DSOs through accounts receivable.

“It's evident to me that receiving co-pays from patients at the point of service but then being required to submit claims directly to the insurance companies and waiting to get paid ultimately reduces practice profitability,” said Sina S. Amiri, vice president of business development and partnerships at Zentist. “Zentist is bridging the gap between production and collections using AI so US practices are just as profitable as their Canadian counterparts which today pay their dentists a higher percentage of collections due to lower adjusted production and less bad debt write-offs."
