The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons has announced its newest board members and leadership during the annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. J. David Johnson Jr., DDS, was announced as AAOMS’ 2021-22 president after previously serving as president-elect, vice presidents, district III trustee, and treasurer.
"I look forward to serving as your president in the coming year," Johnson said during an inaugural address at the house of delegates' third session. "We do not know where the road of life will lead us. If we pursue our AAOMS mission, 'to assure patient access to safe and effective care,' our association will be going in the right direction."
Johnson brings more than 30 years of practice experience as well as serving as a member of the exam committee for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the advisory board for the OMS National Insurance Company. He also received the AAOMS Presidential Achievement Award for OMS and served as the national OMS spokesperson for the American Dental Association.
Additional 2021-22 officers elected during the house of delegates meeting were president-elect Paul J. Schwartz, DMD, vice president, Mark A. Egbert, DDS, FACS, treasurer Robert S. Clark, DMD, and speaker Steven R. Nelson, DDS, MS.
