Global dental practice management software market to exceed $2.5B

The market worldwide for dental practice management software is projected to reach $2.7 billion by 2026, forecasts market research company Global Industry Analysts. The growth is expected to come on the heels of an increase in dental procedures and interest in or knowledge of the importance of dental health. Dental disease is also on the rise as smoking and poor dietary choices, and aging patients fuel oral health decline. There has also been an uptick in interest in cosmetic dental options.

In 2020, the market was valued at $1.7 billion; the current forecast includes a revised projection after COVID-19 impact. The current forecast of $2.7 billion by 2016 reflects a CAGR of 8.2%. Within the industry segments, web-based software is expected to grow at 7.5% CAGR to achieve $1.3 billion by 2026. The cloud-based software segment is forecast to reach 9.5% CAGR across the next seven years. 

The US share of the global market is estimated at 36.36% and a value of $642.8 million in 2021. 

Practice management software includes business tools such as accounting, e-billing, software that allows for making appointments online, generates reports, and aids in insurance claims.  The market also includes software that assists in treatment planning and mapping and dental imaging.
