LightSpun Adds Veteran to Drive Growth Strategy

35-year healthcare veteran who scaled dental and Medicaid programs to over $1 billion in revenue joins as LightSpun enters critical growth phase on the heels of NationsBenefits and Smile America partnerships .

Key details

LightSpun, the AI-powered dental insurance administration platform now supporting 175,000+ providers nationwide, has named Bill Henderson as Strategic Advisor to the CEO. Henderson will lead national growth strategy and expand partnerships with commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare managed healthcare organizations.

Henderson brings 35 years of healthcare executive experience across dental /vision, Medicaid, Medicare, and chronic care management. Over his career, he scaled a national dental and managed care organization to over $1 billion in annual revenue while growing membership from thousands to seven million lives, and has guided multiple organizations through successful acquisitions and private equity exits, delivering shareholder returns exceeding 50 percent.

The hire follows a significant run of momentum. In March 2026, LightSpun launched NationsDental with NationsBenefits, embedding real-time dental adjudication into a benefits platform that reaches millions of Medicare and Medicaid members. Earlier, LightSpun announced a partnership with Smile America Partners, the nation’s largest school-based dental program, cutting provider enrollment from months to under a week to expand care for 500,000 underserved children across 8,000 schools. Over the last year, LightSpun also partnered with the American Dental Association to automate credentialing nationwide and raised $13 million in Series A funding, bringing total funding to $18 million.

“I’ve spent 35 years inside dental, vision, Medicaid, and Medicare administration. At PrimeVision, we were an NCQA-certified credentialing verification organization, so I know exactly what lives inside that process: the manual verification, the 60-day onboarding cycles, the claims denials that pile up downstream when credentialing goes wrong,” said Bill Henderson, Strategic Advisor to the CEO, LightSpun. “I’ve been in rooms where this problem has been discussed for decades. LightSpun is the first company I’ve seen that is actually solving it. The results are live, at scale, with partners that don’t sign on unless the technology works. That’s why I’m here.”

What this means for the market

“Bill and I go back, and I know exactly what he’s capable of. When someone who has spent 35 years building relationships with the largest managed care organizations in the country decides this is where he wants to be, that tells you something,” said Shaju Puthussery, CEO and Co-Founder, LightSpun. “He knows who the decision-makers are, where the friction is, and what it takes to move a health plan. We are building the infrastructure layer for dental insurance. Bill is going to accelerate how fast we get there.”
