Corus Orthodontists Adds Two to Board Leadership

Corus Orthodontists, a leading North American orthodontic partnership network, is pleased to announce the election of Tim Patterson, a seasoned healthcare investor, and Dr. Nicole Nalchajian, a Corus Doctor-Partner, to its Board of Directors. These appointments reinforce Corus’s continued commitment to combining business expertise with clinical excellence as it scales across North America.

Corus also expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Sharon Nguyen and Jill Nowak, who are retiring from the Board at the end of their terms after years of dedicated service. Both played instrumental roles in shaping Corus’s robust governance and operational foundation.

New Board Appointments

Tim Patterson brings over 25 years of experience in private equity and healthcare investing. He formerly led OMERS Private Equity’s healthcare investments and served as Vice Chair of its Investment Committee. During his 11-year tenure at OMERS, he was a director of several healthcare companies, including Premise Health, Forefront Dermatology, and CBI Health Group, among others. Now an independent advisor and investor, Patterson brings a strategic lens to scaling healthcare partnerships.

“I’m thrilled to join the Board of Corus Orthodontists,” said Patterson. “The company is uniquely positioned with a values-based culture and a high-performing management team that blends operational excellence with clinical integrity. I am especially excited to work with Dr. Paul Helpard, the company’s visionary Founder and Strategic Advisor, and Dean Prevost, an accomplished and thoughtful CEO, as well as the rest of the Board and leadership team, as we guide Corus into its next phase of growth.”

Dr. Nicole Nalchajian is a practicing orthodontist and Doctor-Partner at Nalchajian Orthodontics in Fresno and Clovis, California. Since joining Corus in 2022, she has been a vocal advocate for clinical collaboration, continuous learning, and enhancing the patient experience.

“Becoming part of the Corus network has been one of the most rewarding steps in my professional journey,” said Dr. Nalchajian. “The network provides best-in-class mentorship and support. As a Doctor-Partner, I have seen firsthand how Corus empowers clinicians to focus on exceptional patient care while being part of a collaborative, doctor-led community. I am honoured to bring that perspective to the Board.”

Tim and Dr. Nalchajian join a highly accomplished Board of Directors, comprised of Alan Torrie, Dr. Warren Cohen, Dr. Michael Goldstein, Dr. Paul Helpard, Dr. Shawn Russett, Dr. Lesley Williams, Chris Gardner, and Brent Houlden.

Dr. Fran Short, a practicing orthodontist and Doctor-Partner at Short Orthodontics in Linwood, New Jersey, has also recently been appointed as a Board Observer.

Leadership Reflections and Welcomes

Board Chair Alan Torrie welcomed the new directors, emphasizing their diverse contributions and expertise. “We’re excited to welcome Tim and Nicole to the Board,” said Torrie. “Tim’s strategic insight and deep healthcare experience will be invaluable as we continue to scale, and Nicole’s perspective as a respected Doctor-Partner ensures strong alignment between our practices and Home Office teams. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Sharon and Jill for their outstanding contributions during Corus’s critical growth years.”

Future Growth

Chris Gardner, independent Corus director and former Chief Executive Officer of Neighbourly Pharmacy, emphasized that the Board additions come at a pivotal moment for the organization. “Corus has entered 2025 with strong momentum and a clear purpose. We have a differentiated doctor-owned and doctor-led partnership model, an aligned doctor community, an incredible culture, a strong balance sheet, and a leadership team that is second to none. With these key Board additions, we are even better positioned to lead the next chapter of growth in orthodontics.”

Dean Prevost, Corus Chief Executive Officer, shared his perspective on what sets the network apart and where it’s headed next. “Backed by strong operational and financial performance across our network and a proven playbook for delivering the Corus value proposition, we are uniquely suited to welcome like-minded Doctor-Partners and Associate Doctors into our purpose-driven, high-performing network.”
