The Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO) announced March 9 the election of Dr. Sulman Ahmed as the association's new president. Ahmed has served on the ADSO Executive Committee for five years. As ADSO president, he will advance the association's commitment to improving oral health in the U.S. by making high-quality dental care more accessible.
In a news release, Ahmed said that stepping into the new role is an honor.
"Alongside the rest of our executive leadership team, we will build upon the work of previous leaders to continue bridging the gap to bring all dentists – from individual practices to large groups – together as we expand access to quality dental care and improve the oral health of communities across the country," he said. Ahmed is also the founder, chairman and CEO of DECA Dental Group.
As president, he plans to prioritize furthering the association's mission of supporting dental practices through research, education and advocacy.
Andrew Smith, executive director of the ADSO, said that while the organization faces economic and workforce challenges, there are also opportunities to grow, thrive and mold the industry for the future.
"Dr. Ahmed, a clinician representing the next generation of dentist leaders, is well suited to lead ADSO as we work to elevate dentistry, position DSOs as the preferred practice model and drive value for our members," he said in the news release.
Ahmed will be a keynote speaker at ADSO's annual summit, which takes place March 28 to 31 in Orlando.
