Katherine E. Pfaff

Synchrony, a consumer financial services company, recently announced 21 winners of the Synchrony Pillars Project Grants. The program, which began in 2016, recognizes entrepreneurial retailers and health and wellness providers who have risen above in times of change.

This year, the company will help small businesses address digital transformation through a total of $210,000 in grant awards. Each grant recipient receives $10,000 and consulting services from Synchrony experts to expand the digital transformation of their business, according to a news release.

Winners were selected from more than 500 applicants. In the Health and Wellness category, Dr. Fahreen Pardhan of Avon, Ohio’s iSmile Dental is an awardee.

The grants will help recipients increase their digital capabilities with better website and mobile experiences, search engine optimization, digital marketing and social media content. In addition, the program helps with improved technology for mobile devices, software for cybersecurity, apps and wireless connections.

The grant program application was open to companies with fewer than 30 employees and included retail stores and health and wellness organizations.
