DECA Dental Group awarded Brandon Hall award for learning initiative

Katherine E. Pfaff

DECA Dental Group, a leading dental services organization based in Dallas, was recently named a recipient of a Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award for its development of a company-wide learning initiative to improve patient service. The initiative applied to all DECA offices nationwide, according to a news release.

The award is given annually to companies illustrating exceptional commitment to learning strategies and excellent employee training designed to enhance customer relationships. Past award winners include Bank of America, Bayer AG, General Motors, Google, HP, Sam's Club, Wyndham Hotel Group and several other Fortune 500 companies.

Dr. Shalin Patel, partner and chief clinical officer of DECA Dental Group, said that the DSO realized early on that they would have to develop unique ways to facilitate system-wide learning.

"We have seen the practical application – and milestone achievements – of having dedicated learning professionals," he said in the news release.

DECA maintains its educational offerings through a clinical advisory board which was created to train team members with its DECA Academy. The Academy offers learning services, innovative learning approaches and organization models, and creates measurable outcomes.

DECA’s clinical advisory board also allows clinicians to weigh in and offer their expertise on the company's vision and strategy. Senior clinicians within the company lead the board and work with management to ensure ongoing clinical success.
