Heartland Dental recently held its annual Free Dentistry Day, providing care for more than 4,000 dental patients at no charge. The volunteer-driven event included participation from 211 offices in the network which are supported by Heartland, a Dental Support Organization (DSO).
“We are proud to see so many supported doctors and team members using their talents and skills to give back” to communities, said Pat Bauer, president and CEO at Heartland Dental, in a news release. "Free Dentistry Day is an opportunity to help those who otherwise might not have access to dental care, and we're happy to help our supported communities."
The donated time from dental professionals amounted to $ 1.5 million for dental care of 4,036 patients.
The event, held Sept. 10, included offices across the nation. Dental teams provided fillings, cleanings, and tooth extractions to patients who might otherwise not be cared for by dental professionals. Dental supplies were donated by Envista and Henry Schein, and additional support was provided by Septodent and Colgate.
Heartland Dental DSO offers administrative and nonclinical support to dental practices. The organization has sponsored days of community service since 2010 and have provided more than $ 13 million worth of care to more than 35,000 patients.
