A dental care company which is employer-based, Onsite Dental, has purchased dental organization, Dental Excellence Partners, LLP. Dental Excellence, referred to as DEP, specializes in care for Medicare and Medicaid patients. At the same time, Onsite Dental has also inked a strategic partnership with population health and primary care company, Cano Health. Onsite Dental is backed by Northwest Venture Partners.
With its purchase of DEP, Onsite Dental becomes a major player in the United States, now serving more than one million patients. Patients stretch across 14 states and include more than 850,000 employees and dependents and more than 250,000 Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA patients.
“Onsite Dental's 'Healthy, Happy, Here' mission provides the foundation for our unique value-based dental care delivery model for leading employers, unions, and universities across the country,” said Ern Blackwelder, chief executive officer of Onsite Dental. “We are thrilled to acquire DEP and partner with Cano Health to expand our offerings to senior communities and advance the integration of primary care and oral health.”
The newly-struck partnership of Cano and Onsite is expected to bolster preventative dental care. There are existing synergies between DEP and Cano as most of the former’s clinics are already located within the footprint of Cano’s clinics. The collaboration is expected to improve health, patient satisfaction, and to reduce costs
“Research supports a strong connection between poor oral health and increased risk for chronic illnesses,” said Dr. Stephanie Hernandez, chief executive officer of DEP. “For 20 years, we have provided dental services that have made a tremendous difference to our patients and communities. I'm very proud to partner with Onsite to more rapidly expand our services nationwide.”
