The aim of this study is to pro- pose an update on ceramics for partial and total indirect reconstructions performed with CAD/ CAM.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Through a careful study of literature, carried out through the major databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase) it was possible to collect a large number of scientific contributions for CAD/CAM restorations. Specifically, we selected those which were involved both on individual teeth and on implants restorations. In this analysis, we also included laboratory studies dealing with materials used in CAD/CAM techniques.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS
The survival of these types of restoration, evaluated in medium and long term clinical trials, seemed to be very encouraging and it seemed to be the same in the laboratory studies of ceramic materials used in CAD/CAM techniques. Today the choice of the type of ceramic materials to perform rehabilitation with CAD/CAM system can be very varies and, regardless of its characteristics, is considered a valid alternative to traditional methods, taking into account the aesthetic and functional needs of dental elements to be rebuilt or implanted to perform prosthetic reconstructions.
