Monet laser curing light to provide efficiency

Salt Lake City, Utah-based diode laser manufacturer AMD Lasers, Inc. will shortly ship its Monet Laser Curing Light, the first handheld curing laser light. While LED curing lights, also introduced by AMD, became common in dental practices in the early 2000s, a laser version offers improved light focus and more efficient curing. 

Monet’s beam intensity is consistent despite distance from device, and its coherent collimated beam has a diameter of up to 12mm. This amounts to an 8mm curing depth at 3 seconds with composites. The handheld and cordless device is also designed to be more convenient. The design includes a head that rotates, aperture attachments for adjustable beam size, and battery power as well as charging station.

"Monet laser curing light will make dental curing easier, faster, and better,” said Dr. Densen Cao, PhD, President of AMD, in a release.
