Delta Dental Institute shared its 2020 impact report which highlighted the community work of Delta Dental companies across the country. During 2020, Delta Dental made investments across communities through more than 2,400 programs totaling $102.5 million. Their efforts amounted to 20,000 volunteer hours and affected an estimated 24.7 million lives, according to the company.
The report highlights the group’s efforts toward improving oral health and decreasing disparities and inequities in oral health across the country. IN 2020, Delta Dental companies sought to reach underserved communities with oral health programs, and created support for scholarships and training of dentists of color.
Delta Dental had also pledged $1.1 billion worth of support in response to COVID-19, including loans to community-essential clinics. "As our country grappled with a pandemic, injustice, and lingering gaps in oral health care access and education, Delta Dental stood with our communities to meet their most pressing needs," said James W. Hutchison, President & CEO, Delta Dental Plans Association. "In a time of crisis and uncertainty, Delta Dental never wavered in its enduring commitment to achieve access and equity for all."
