Bamboo fabric a trustable antibacterial solution for medical uniforms

Nowadays in the textile field it is necessary to look not just to new solution but also to sustainable fabrics.

In Pastelli we selected the Bamboo, because of its peculiar properties that we believe are  the perfect choice in the medical uniforms sector.

The Bamboo fabric is really comfortable to wear, it is similar to the softness of silk. The fibres are without chemical treatment, naturally smoother, making bamboo fabric hypoallergenic.

On that same note, bamboo is also antibacterial and antifungal. This is because bamboo possesses an anti-bacteria and bacteriostatic bio-agent called "Bamboo Kun", allowing it to naturally flourish and grow in the wild without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. This beneficial quality of the plant remains in its textile form, killing all bacteria and keeping the wearer a feeling fresher and odour free for longer.

The inner structure of bamboo fibres makes the fabrics more breathable and thermoregulating than cotton, wool or synthetic fabrics (studied have shown a difference of 2°/35F keeping the wearer fresher in summertime and warmer in wintertime). It also provides UV protection (it does not let through about 98% of harmful UV rays);

The benefits are not just for the ones who use it, but also for the environment, bamboo require 7 times less water than cotton, and the cultivation requires little care, and plants that have only reached three years of age are considered ready for textile use.
