Would-be patients have put off dental care, according to a recent survey from the American Association of Endodontists (AAE). Chicago-based AAE reported that more than half of those who completed the survey noted they had delayed regular check-ups due to the pandemic. Twenty-eight percent of patients reported they did not make their usual dental visit appointment.
At the same time, those surveyed also shared they had picked up some bad habits during their increased time at home. These include eating sugary foods throughout the day (31%), brushing their teeth later in the morning than usual (25%), or not brushing during the morning (21%), flossing less often (24%), or not at all (23%). Respondents cited breaks in their usual routine for some of the changes in their oral health habits.
However, the majority of patients (60%) indicated they would make an appointment if they had ongoing tooth pain.
