AAE names award winning endodontists

Specialty dental association, American Association of Endodontists, has shared the award winners announced during the annual meeting. Recipients include business owners, practitioners with decades of experience, and educators who inspire.

"The endodontic specialty consists of thousands of amazing, specialized dentists dedicated to saving patients' natural teeth and relieving their tooth pain," said Dr. Alan S. Law, president of AAE. "I'm thrilled to help present these awards recognizing particular members for their outstanding achievements in the areas of professional development, academics, research and service."

John S. Olmsted, DDS, MS, FAGD, FICD, FACD, FPFA, has been named the winner of the AAE’s top honor, the Edgar D. Coolidge award, which sets him as a role model for the endodontic community. Dr. Olmsted has practiced, taught, and lectured for more than 45 years.

Al Reader, DDS, MS, will be awarded the IB Bender Lifetime Educator award in recognition of his work in education and in inspiring students. He is professor emeritus, a past director of the Advanced Endodontic Program, and an endowed professor in endodontics. 

Kent A. Sabey, DDS, will be lauded with the Edward M. Osetek award as an exceptional educator. Dr. Sabey is an associate professor and former director of advanced education in endodontics at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He is now director of the American Board of Endodontics.

Mohamed I. Fayad, DDS, MS, PhD, will be given the Calvin D. Torneck Part-time Educator award. He currently acts as clinical associate professor in the department of endodontics in the University of Illinois at Chicago. 

Scott Fehrs was named recipient of the Honorary Membership Award for his efforts to advance endodontics. Fehrs owns and manages a company which directs the management of financial services for dental specialists and general dentists. The company has worked with more than 18,000 dental providers.
