Global 3-D printing in healthcare to reach $7.1B in 2027: GMI

According to Global Market Insights, the 3-D printing sector was valued at $1.7 billion worldwide in 2020 and is forecast to reach a value of $71 billion by 2027. 3-D printing for healthcare is expected to grow at a strong clip, according to a report by market analysts, Global Market Insights. Adoption has been relatively swift as regulators and practitioners essentially embrace the printers. 

Dental usage of 3-D printing is expected to be a strong driver, according to the market insights firm. The segment is anticipated to have a 21.6% increase in technology over the period. 3-D printing can be used in numerous dental applications, including dental implants, drill guides, and orthodontic models. 

Within the 3-D printing in the healthcare market, laser printers are typically faster and more accessible technologies. made up $320 million worth of the 2020 value. While stereolithography printers are less common (about 13% of healthcare 3-D printing in 2020), the newer devices are typically used for dental implants, and are being trialed in printing organs.
