The IDS stages the return to presence with more than 23,000 visitors from 114 countries

The 39th edition of the IDS closes with more than 23,000 visitors from 114 countries, marking this global event, the starting point for a positive evolution of the dental sector in the coming months. After four days of the fair, this Saturday, September 25, IDS 2021 closed, giving a positive boost to the global dental sector in the post-coronavirus stage. "Optimism has returned to the international dental family," celebrates Mark Stephen Pace, President of the Association of the German Dental Industry (VDDI). “The message is loud and clear: the German dental industry continues to move forward. We offer solutions in difficult times. All the exhibitors I have spoken with, without exception, were delighted to have participated in IDS. And of one thing I am sure: they will benefit from the changes in the market that will come as a result of IDS! ”, He adds.

Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, He also assures that IDS 2021 has clearly awakened a new enthusiasm in the sector: “All exhibitors and visitors have been happy to reconnect in person, to appreciate the products first-hand and to strengthen personal ties at the end of the fair day at the many networking events. Precisely for this reason, IDS 2021 has an extraordinarily important role in reactivating both the dental sector and the trade fair industry as a whole. In addition, this is the first edition of IDS that takes place in a hybrid format, that is, it has the physical space for the face-to-face meeting in the fair pavilions here in Cologne and is complemented by the IDSconnect digital platform, whose additional options for presentations and networking have been very well received ”.

The IDS in data

IDS has once again demonstrated that it is the leading fair in the international dental sector: more than 23,000 professional visitors from 114 countries have come to IDS 2021 to find out about the offers of the 830 exhibiting companies from 59 countries. The global convening power of IDS has once again become clear, especially considering the limitations to travel in many regions of the world. 72% of the exhibitors came from outside Germany, as did 57% of the visitors: from Western Europe, especially from Italy, France, and the Netherlands; from Eastern Europe and the Middle East, as well as overseas.

For more than half of the visitors, nurturing existing business relationships and creating new ones were key factors in visiting IDS. Also, more than two-thirds of the visitors were very satisfied with the exhibition offer and with the scope of their objectives and 85% would recommend IDS to a good business partner. Around 70% of those surveyed are already planning their return to IDS 2023 today.

In IDSconnect 77 exhibitors from 16 countries were presented. The general program of IDS events was also broadcast live on the digital platform, such as the delivery of the Molds Award of the ProDente initiative, the Gysi Award, of the Association of German Guilds of Dental Prosthetics, or the program of the German Dental Association. All conferences, shows, and digital presentations are also available on demand.
