Colgate and PDS to host salivary testing CE webinar

Katherine E. Pfaff

Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals is collaborating with DSO, Pacific Dental Services, to host a free webinar on oral or salivary testing for diagnostic and overall health. The program will award CE credits at no charge.

The program, called “The Mouth-Body Connection,” will discuss the link between systemic disease and oral health, and how fluid diagnostics can apply to managing periodontal disease. The event will be held Thursday March 31 at noon PST.

The webinar will discuss gingival and saliva fluid tests including for inflammatory biomarkers such as for active-matrix metalloproteinase. Testing implications for disease management will be covered.

Presenters will include dentist who specializes in implants and periodontics, Hans-Dieter John, MSD, Ira Lamster, DDS, MMSc, dean emeritus at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and clinical professor at the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, and Daniel Burke, chief enterprise strategy officer at PDS. Burke will be discussing the impact of POC tests on practice.

"Technological advances and clinical research during the past few decades have emphasized the diagnostic potential of analysis of saliva and other oral fluids,” said Lamster. “The convenience of collection has led to a broad investigation of oral fluid analysis for oral and systemic disorders. This webinar will educate oral health providers about the benefits of leveraging oral fluid diagnosis to improve the clinical management of dental patients, with important implications for general health."
